O Praise Him!

O Praise Him — Alleluia!

Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.  (Psalm 150:

All creatures of our God and King,

Lift up your voice and with us sing

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Have you ever been outside on a cool, quiet evening, and listened to the crickets’ song, or heard the croaking joy of the frogs?  It’s a melody of praise to their Creator.

a joyful bull frog in the setting evening sun

Have you ever been in a place where night the sky is so dark, with no invasion of lights from big city or small village, and the stars feel amazingly close and bright?  This is our African sky.  The stars are singing their glory to their Creator.

Have you ever been outside on a quiet early morning, walking on a wooded path, especially in the northern woodlands, and the heard the chorus of song birds?  It is a harmony of praise to their God.

The grey-headed kingfisher. A favorite to watch in the early morning sun as he makes his little chirps and waits for insects to catch.

Have you ever been outside wilting from the heat of the day, and seen the glorious display of colors of flowers of every sort, their heads lifted heavenward in praise to their creator?

The delicate and lovely spider lily, still dripping with morning dew, praises her Creator.

Morning, noon, evening, and night, God’s creation is singing praise to Him.

Ah, but do I?

When I pray before reading my Bible in the morning, do I lift a hymn of praise to my God?  When I am resting on there veranda in the heat of the day (in Sierra Leone) does my heart sing with my beautiful lilies and, many other flowers, a song of thanks for the day?

In the nippy evening on the veranda, chilly breezes blowing in from the Sahara, as I listen to the crickets’ song, do I join them in praise to the Savior?  What about those amazing dark sky nights?  Do I have a song of praise joining the stars and the glorious Milky Way?

Morning, noon, evening, and night, the Lord’s creation sings praise to Him.  Am I among them?

Let all things their Creator bless,

And worship him Him in humbleness —

O praise Him! Alleluia!

Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,

And praise the Spirit, Three in One:

O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
